this song is a living example of how incredible a song-writer that josh ritter is. it’s the story of two people falling in love with one another while trapped in a nuclear missile silo in a post-apocalyptic world. ritter always manages to paint an entire image through his writing, never failing to leave out an important visual or descriptive detail. it’s not often you find songwriters able to create an entire universe built around a single tune, but he’s one of them— it’s beautiful stuff.
