THE ROAD TO SD: DAY 2

joe fish and i joked around that we should eat exclusively at cracker barrels one one of these trips. i didn’t quite get the joke because i’d be totally in— that place is a damn gem. we woke up in no rush this morning, stopped by a cracker barrel in Maumee, OH and we were on the road to des moines by 1130. we finally hit the point where each exit looks the same, and that cornfield looks just like this cornfield and the question of “how much longer?” seems to be asked every ten minutes.

we managed to stop at the world’s largest truck stop on the Iowa 80 which was a genuine highlight— they have a crazy cool truck museum with one of the largest collections of vintage, mostly american-made big-rigs & smaller automobiles that we got to walker around & stretch our legs out for. a couple hundred miles & a few more cornfields later, and we settled in Des Moines around 9 pm. I busted my penny board out of the van and rode around downtown for a bit— eventually riding around the campus of Drake University before settling down for the night.

The goal tomorrow: DENVER.
