The only aspect of postmodernism I truly applaud is its approach to art — the idea of endless interpretations and thought-provoking possibilities within a piece that lacks a definitive meaning. This notion of art being open-ended is genuinely novel. However, this fluidity of meaning collapses if the artist declares a fixed purpose. At that point, it becomes design — or perhaps not. Honestly, I’m not sure what the societal rules are around objectivity anymore.
art is an escape from design, which itself is an escape from reality. it doesn't need to serve a function, nor does it require a purpose — it simply exists. There’s no deeper meaning in my work other than it being a manifestation of the world I’ve created in my own mind. And no matter how hard postmodernists try, that’s something they can’t redefine.
