WEEKEND RECAP: MADE TWO TRIPS TO THE AIRPORT
well it’s wednesday, and i never filled you folks in on my weekend— nobody asked for it, but here it is:
On friday, i left work early to get home and do some yard work that i had been putting off for a long while. the weather was finally beautiful so i thought i’d take advantage of the sunlight as long as possible. There’s a big pine tree that’s been growing over my sidewalk so i decided to chop the lower half of the branches off. From there, I raked up the years of underbrush and cleaned up the majority of the yard around it— that brought me into the better part of the evening so i ended up going straight to bed as i had to get up early on saturday to make an airport drop-off.
i woke up around 6 am to get over to jim’s house— i typically agree to these airport trips for two reasons:
i don’t mind a reason to be forced to wake up early on a weekend
jim owns a real fast car that he allows me to drive while he’s away.
i’ve driven luxury sedans before— i woudln’t call myself a car guy, but i appreciate nice driving machines. that’s exactly what his volvo s60 is— the t5 motor truly makes it a performance vehicle with the agility & pick-up that i reckon compares to the lockheed sr-71.
Anyways, I get to jim’s house around 7 o clock or so and we head to the airport. Jim is a high energy, 70 year old man whose genetic code is crossed somewhere between don knotts & a 1950s wind up toy— but one that lasts for literal hours. he’s a veterinary surgeon, so he’s a good friend to have in case i ever need my appendix out but can’t afford the human doctor rate. we drive all the way from the woo to logan— i help him unload his several bags for his 5-night stay and salute him off on his travels. i throw wumb on the radio, and i am at cruising altitude all the way home to the woo. i run a few errands, and then stop by my ‘rents house to accompany them to brimfield. the second we get on the highway, jim calls— i need to go pick him up. apparently bermuda wouldn’t recognize his covid test for some reason— irrelevant.
I hop in the volvo, and raced back to logan— got jim, and we raced on back. I really didn’t mind the two trips all too much— but they do get a little exhausting. I had just been joking around a few weeks ago about starting my own fancy airport limo service— that was a short-lived dream. Sunday was an easy day— plugged away at some work on the jeep and started working on a few freelance gigs that have been on hold.
more often updates are on their way!
