TRACKS ON REPEAT: DEAR MARIE

It wasn’t until I saw Mayer live that I really listened to this track— of all his albums, Paradise Valley had been the least listened to so it made sense that I didn’t identify the lyrics right away. My date at the time had been eager to beat the end-of-show traffic, so we ditched our seats right before it ended. As we were walking out of the arena, I was still pretty focused— she could tell I was digging it, so we poked our heads through a different balcony curtain just as he let out that first “Oh ah Oh” which nearly made my knees buckle— there’s something so graceful in the aesthetic of this track that found itself on repeat for a long while.
