tracks on repeat: birmingham

there are certain songs that really find a way to get you riled up and this is most certainly one of them. remove the fact that this comes from zach bryan, which was my absolute most-listened to artist last year— the writing, along with the demeanor in which it’s recorded is just next level.

“Well I killed a man in Birmingham
I hit him with a tire iron
He did not move and I do not give a damn
I've been working here like a slavein' mule
Sucking the earth of dry crude
Looking for a way out of it all
Cops are coming
I can feel em' here
My back is crawling with standing hair
Wouldn't mind to see a few pigs fall”

there aren’t many artists out there who speak to me as much as this dude— it’s that stripped down, genuine, americana-country sound that i can’t ever seem to get enough of— i’ve been counting down the days until his first studio release american heartbreak hits spotify at the end of may. until then, i’ll keep enjoying the sounds that he’s graced us with up to this point.
