there’s no denying it— the plain white t-shirt is an iconic staple embedded in american culture. what started as standard issue in the U.S. Navy quickly became an accepted part of men’s daily wardrobe, not just as an undershirt or standard workwear. Queue up Marlon Brando’s 1951 appearance in A Streetcar named Desire and James Dean’s bold move that was pairing it with denim, and you’ll see the undershirt adopted by the masses as a truly nostalgic article of clothing.

move forward 70 years, and you’ll notice the plain white tee shirt is engrained into the modern man’s daily wardrobe— it’s the american muscle car of apparel. It makes you wonder how something so simple & minimalistic can be so nuanced at the same time.

It’s cruising the interstate, It’s your dad first teaching you how to fire up the grill — it’s church on sunday & it’s the birth of your first son— the white t-shirt is such a vital staple because it’s symbolism for being a god damn man.

Now, go re-assess your closet.
