men from the british EXPEDITIONARY force (7th BATTALION, border regiment) get some sleep after getting a break from frontline duty. overlooking them are men waiting to take their place. many on the front lines went days without any sleep. the border regiment served as guards during the 17th divisions withdrawal as the german made advances in march of 1918. occupying a large series of ridges over the course of a few nights, there was a close breakthrough of german cavalry that was held off by the 7th BATTALION.
