NEW WORK: STRONG MEN

“STRONG MEN” aw fish, 2021 (mixed media)

there’s a new-age adage that i’ve seen gain popularity in the past few years— i traced it’s origin back to a book called “Those who remain” by G. Michael hopf. Hopf was a marine corps combat vet & Bodyguard for the saudi royal family— in his civilian life, he pursued some business ventures and wrote a few books. The synopsis of the story sounds pretty cool— a futuristic world where the US invades CANADA as they occupy northern idaho (I’ll give it an actual read and write a review here)

the excerpt i’ve read really makes you think for a bit— history proves it’s truth.

“Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times.

Good times create weak men. weak men create hard times.”

the world needs strong men. there’s nothing toxic about masculinity as some would lead you to believe— it’s easy to confuse the physical manifestation of INSECURITies and lack of confidence for TOXicity, but it’s objectively untrue. strong men devoted their lives to defending our freedom & moving us forward. man brought us the barcode, the light bulb, the airplane— they brought us the automobile and they brought us to the moon. There are men who wake up every single day and break their backs to be sure that everything we take for granted works— it would be a damn shame not to give them credit where it’s due.
