GOLDEN AGE COMICS: CLASSICS ILLUSTRATED #63

CLASSICS.jpg

i’ll never quite understand how classics illustrated numbered their books— there’s some designation of what number printing the book is and i’m not sure which one is which. however, i do know that this is hrn 62 (whatever that stands for) which is the 1st classics illustrated printing of edward everett hales the man without a country. i wasn’t aware that a comic adaptation of this story existed until i stumbled upon this copy at a show in new hampshire a few months back— i’m real happy i did.

I ran the full story that was originally published in the atlantic in 1863 on the blog a while ago and if you didn’t give it a read, you’re certainly missing out. for those not-interested in reading, there’s a really great audio recording you can find by clicking here.
