FILM I SHOT: NEW HAMPSHIRE, SUMMER 2021

i have a short little blurb written in the film section of my portfolio that explains why i don’t quite believe in film edits— i appreciate the rawness. it’s a true display of your capabilities with nothing but a camera and your eye. you can play with different film, you can experiment with expired film, you can overexpose, you can underexpose, change the film speed, change the camera— but at the end, you shoot what you shoot. i think a big part of it for me is the anticipation i feel when i send a roll of 35mm film to get developed— the waiting game has me constantly refreshing my email until the scans show up in my inbox. i’d develop myself if i took more photos, but i leave that job for the guys over at gelatin labs.

i started playing around with new film— specifically lomochrome’s metropolis 35mm which is what the majority of these were shot on. i brought my tripod up to new hampshire with me to take a few long exposures + a couple shots of myself— it was a good exercise to focus on an object at roughly the same distance, set the timer, then make it over there before it went off. a revelation i had recently has really driven my to start documenting my 20’s— as i take more solo trips, I have to say i’m real stoked to have some tangible memories of them.

as an aside, i want to say Thanks to those checking out the blog— we’re almost on month 8 & I’m happy i made a resolution to post every day. happy friday, folks!
