COL. TODD TATTOO FLASH

Col. Todd Flash from 1963

Col. Todd Flash from 1963

I could flip through traditional tattoo flash for days on end— this specific sheet is really cool. The Uncle Sam fist of defiance was the one that stood out to me— I can’t say I’ve ever seen it duplicated. I think my appreciation for heavy blacks started with my exposure to Craig Thompsons work when I was a kid. Good-Bye Chunky Rice was a real formative piece of media for me— it lead me on a quest to find styles of work just like it, and American tattoo flash happened to be one of them.
