August 5th, 1864, the Battle of Mobile Bay. Rear Admiral David G. Farragut ordered his Union ships to charge Confederate positions. When concerns came up about the enemy mine field, Farragut responded, “Damn the torpedoes! Four bells. Captain Drayton, go ahead! Jouett, full speed!”

The battle would end in a Union victory.
