august is the end of summer

ah yes— it is here. the last of the absolute most miserable months. There’s something about that first full august weekend every year— you walk out and it’s as if you can see fall off in the distance like you could a storm in the sky. it’s refreshing, even more so when you’re an adult. as a kid, you took the good with the bad— fall was coming up, which also meant heading back to school— something i only looked forward to towards the end of my tenure as a subject of the public school system. there was always an intense anxiety about initial day back— every year, papasan gave me a Tchotchke off his studio shelf that i kept in my pocket for the first week or so of school— that always seemed to make me feel better.

but aside from that— i welcome august with open arms, knowing that fall is right around the corner. the beauty of adulthood is that i’ve adapted to my basically permanent daily schedule— which means as i stay complacent, the seasons will continue to change, it’s built into my schedule to look forward to it.

and so far, it’s been a halfway decent august. i’ve had a few jobs i’ve finished up— a few more i’ve picked up. i’m drinking enough water, getting enough sleep— and trying out a mostly animal based diet, thanks to dr. paul saladino and the resources over at heart and soil.

last week, papasan gave me a lift to the automotive dealership to purchase my new car— it’s a real nice kia forte that has been an absolute blast to drive— something i’m looking forward to putting many miles on. speaking of papasan— he wrote a real great blog post on a lesson i learned on that trip down route 9— take the advice, he is a wise man.

i spent this past saturday attending a few different parties and hanging out with some friends i hadn’t seen in a while, i also took joe fish’s pup on a long walk through the park (pictured beside)— on sunday, i grabbed breakfast at the broadway & took a stroll in elm park afterwards— i typically devote sunday nights to plugging away at some preparation work for the week, so it’s nice to get out and about prior to that.

fall is right around the corner, friends— don’t give up the ship!
