ART I DIG: blind man in belsen

blind man in belsen - alan moore, 1947

australian war memorial

alan moore accompanied a british unit during the liberation of belsen concentration camp in april of 1945. he took a number of photos, suggesting that nobody would believe the HORRORS he had DISCOVERED there— pure atrocity committed against mostly jewish inmates. the photographs ended up serving as reference material for the paintings he’d complete a few years later upon his return to AUSTRALIA— blind man in belsen becoming one of his most famous.
